TBU Projects Coordinator

Job Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Senior Manager TBU Projects, supports and drives project planning between the Transportation Business Unit (TBU) and various stakeholders. This role ensures effective communication, collaboration, and execution of transportation-related initiatives that align with the airport’s strategic growth and business objectives. Applies project management principles to facilitate landside development activities, keeping internal and external stakeholders including Board departments, customers, concessionaires, and tenants informed of key updates, program changes, and potential operational impacts.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as a liaison between TBU leadership, project teams, and stakeholders, ensuring clear and timely communication regarding TBU-related projects, policies, designs, construction and operational impacts relative to various parking-related projects.
  • Works closely with internal and external stakeholders to resolve coordination or communication issues that may impact project success.
  • Translates technical engineering and construction details into clear, stakeholder-friendly language and terminology for broader understanding.
  • Represents TBU’s interests in meetings, providing informed input and making real-time decisions as needed to ensure project continuity.
  • Proactively engages with project managers, supervisors, and coordinators to stay informed on project timelines, information, updates, and potential impacts.
  • Develops, maintains, and manages project documentation (e.g., CIP funding documents, Official Board Actions, Work Authorizations) to ensure compliance and transparency.
  • Creates and tracks daily activities and project milestone events of assigned projects, compiling periodic reports to provide leadership with accurate and timely project status updates.
  • Coordinates and supports the development of business continuity plans to minimize operational disruptions and ensure seamless transitions during project execution.
  • Facilitates cross-departmental collaboration, ensuring airport communications and operational teams are aligned and updated on project goals, impacts and timelines.
  • Prepares, distributes and delivers reports, presentations and summaries to communicate key project details, including timing and modifications of plans, to various audiences.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Operations Management, Communications, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years relevant experience in airport operations, project coordination, operations center management, or a related field.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of operations at a medium or large hub airport.
  • Strong knowledge of effective business communication principles, with proven skill in both written and verbal communication—including report writing, presentation development, and the ability to communicate professionally with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to independently manage, organize, and execute multiple projects, track progress, and ensure timely completion.
  • Ability to interpret and translate construction documents into accessible, stakeholder-friendly formats.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and report data accurately.
  • Ability to assess situations, recommend actions, and implement solutions proactively.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, fostering positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute tasks efficiently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work in dynamic environments and adjust to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather conditions as required by operational needs.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

  • This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport’s Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a drug test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position.
  • Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection (CBP) security access clearance within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for CBP security access clearance upon each CBP security access renewal.

  • Works in an office environment primarily but will be required to operate in the field, as needed.
  • Exchanges information by phone, in writing, electronically, and in person.
  • May drive to locations on or off Airport property.
  • Uses keyboard devices, computer monitors, and telephony equipment.
  • Exchanges information by two-way radio, telephone, intercom, e-mail and in person.
  • Sits for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in severe or inclement weather conditions.
  • Drives to locations on Airport property.
