As part of TCEQ’s Office of Waste, you would contribute to agency efforts to regulate the generation, treatment, storage, and disposal of various wastes and the cleanup of contaminated sites. See details about what we do.
This position is a member of our Superfund Section of the Remediation Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Engineer III
Plan and coordinate all phases of highly complex engineering work in accordance with Superfund Section guidelines.
Manage contracts/work orders to achieve corrective action at Superfund Section sites.
Perform miscellaneous and/or special technical or administrative tasks as assigned.
Review invoices under prevailing agency guidelines and required time frames.
Communicate with internal staff, the public, contractors, and other governmental entities. Represent the agency at technical functions, seminars, and meetings.
Engineer IV
Plan and coordinate all phases of advanced engineering work in accordance with Superfund Section guidelines.
Manage contracts/work orders to achieve corrective action at Superfund Section sites.
Perform miscellaneous and/or special technical or administrative tasks as assigned.
Review invoices under prevailing agency guidelines and required time frames.

Engineer V

Manage contracts/work orders to achieve corrective action at Superfund Section sites.
Perform miscellaneous and/or special technical or administrative tasks as assigned.
Review invoices under prevailing agency guidelines and required time frames.
Communicate with internal staff, the public, contractors, and other governmental entities. Represent the agency at technical functions, seminars, and meetings.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with Superfund statutes and regulations
Experience with project management, work orders/contracts, and/or budgets
Experience working with technical and regulatory material, procedures, and/or policies relevant to contaminant remediation and/or Superfund
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Engineer III
Texas Professional Engineer's license plus two years of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure.
Qualifying work experience includes that obtained post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher.
Career Ladder Progression
One year of full-time experience at TCEQ as an Engineer II.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES
This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Engineer III-V state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Engineer III-V series.
Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Austin Headquarters.
