Duties
- Develop and implement dynamic lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards across various subjects, including literacy, math, physical education, and arts.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate students with disabilities, including those with autism, developmental disabilities, visual impairments, or hearing impairments.
- Utilize learning technology and instructional design principles to enhance student engagement and understanding.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management techniques and classroom management strategies.
- Collaborate with specialists such as speech therapists, behavioral therapists, and occupational therapists to support individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Conduct assessments using standardized testing and formative evaluations to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Provide mentorship and academic advising to students, fostering their social-emotional well-being and encouraging their academic success.
Skills
- Proven experience in classroom teaching within early childhood education, preschool, or private school environments.
- Strong knowledge of special education practices, including IEP development and implementation.
- Expertise in working with children with autism, developmental disabilities, or other special needs populations.
- Familiarity with learning technology tools, educational software, and instructional design methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, colleagues, and support staff.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior proactively while creating an inclusive learning environment.
- Experience in curriculum development, lesson planning, and educational assessment techniques.
- Knowledge of behavioral health strategies such as applied behavior analysis (ABA) or behavioral therapy when applicable.
- Skills in tutoring, literacy education, math instruction, recreational therapy, music therapy, or library services are considered advantageous.
- A willingness to learn, support, and incorporate Chamoru language, culture, and customs into the learning environment is highly valued.
- Fluency or conversational proficiency in the Chamoru language is considered a strong asset.
