Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher Assistant to join our dynamic educational team. In this vital role, you will support classroom teachers in creating a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for children across early childhood and special education settings. Responsibilities

  • Assist lead teachers in implementing curriculum plans aligned with developmental milestones and educational standards, including literacy, math, and social skills.
  • Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and facilitating a respectful, safe environment for all students.
  • Work directly with children, including those with autism, developmental disabilities, or other special needs, providing tailored support based on individual IEPs (Individualized Education Programs).
  • Use American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication techniques to enhance understanding and interaction with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Help prepare instructional materials, set up learning activities, and organize classroom spaces to promote active engagement.
  • Assist with daily childcare routines such as diapering, feeding, and supervising toddlers or preschoolers in accordance with best practices like Montessori or preschool methodologies.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop lesson plans that incorporate early childhood education principles and adapt strategies for diverse learners.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with children in classroom or childcare settings is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of childhood development theories and early childhood education practices.
  • Familiarity with special education techniques, including behavior management strategies and curriculum development for students with disabilities.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is a plus but not required; willingness to learn is encouraged.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and students.
  • Ability to manage classroom behavior positively while maintaining a calm and supportive demeanor.
  • Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities is advantageous.
