Job Description:
The mission of the Academies of Loudoun is to empower students to explore, research,
collaborate, innovate, and to make meaningful contributions to the world in the fields of
science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).? The Academies of Loudoun
is comprised of three academies:
Teachers at the Academies of Loudoun must be ready to deliver advanced academic content
and quality instruction to students who have made a commitment to a challenging STEM
program.?They should also be willing to collaboratively plan and develop curriculum and
engage in regular intentional conversations around instruction and data analysis.
Within the AOS program, students deeply engage in mathematics, science, and research.
Teachers promote creativity and innovation through problem solving and collaboration. The
rigorous academic coursework prepares students for college-level research.?All courses have
components of statistics and modeling and are taught in terms of practical application in
order to align with the science and research program.?All courses taught are honors-level or
above.

State Requirement
Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure with Science endorsement. Multiple
endorsements are preferred but not required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or
exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey
detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. The
employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and
apply certain practices and policies. Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary
position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or
negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise
move objects.
