Job Description: English Teacher (PSC-Oriented)
An English Teacher is responsible for teaching the English language, including grammar, literature, and communication skills, as prescribed by the curriculum of the respective Education Board (SCERT/NCERT). The teacher aims to develop students’ proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, thereby improving their overall communicative competence and critical thinking.
Key Duties and Responsibilities1. Instructional Responsibilities
- Teach English language and literature as per the prescribed syllabus.
- Focus on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and comprehension skills.
- Develop students' speaking and listening skills through classroom interaction, group discussions, role plays, etc.
- Conduct reading sessions using prose, poetry, and supplementary readers.
- Assign creative writing tasks such as essays, stories, letters, and reports.
2. Lesson Planning and Curriculum Implementation
- Prepare daily lesson plans based on learning outcomes provided by SCERT/NCERT.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies such as storytelling, group work, digital content, and visual aids.
- Integrate communicative and functional approaches to language teaching.
- Ensure inclusivity and cater to different learning levels within the classroom.
3. Student Assessment and Evaluation
- Design and conduct formative and summative assessments (tests, assignments, oral exams).
- Evaluate student performance objectively and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain academic records and submit student performance reports as per department requirements.
- Provide remedial teaching to students who need additional support.
4. Classroom Management
- Maintain a disciplined, respectful, and learner-friendly classroom atmosphere.
- Motivate students to participate in language activities such as elocution, debate, and essay writing.
- Handle behavioral issues with empathy and appropriate classroom management techniques.
5. Administrative and Co-curricular Duties
- Participate in staff meetings, in-service training programs, and school-level planning.
- Contribute to the organization of language-related events like Literary Clubs, Language Labs, English Week, etc.
- Assist in examination duties including setting question papers, invigilation, and paper correction.
- Maintain records, registers, and other documentation as mandated by the Education Department.
6. Professional Ethics and Conduct
- Follow the code of conduct prescribed by the Education Department and NCTE.
- Demonstrate punctuality, sincerity, and professionalism in all responsibilities.
- Engage in self-improvement and professional development through regular reading, workshops, and training programs.
7. Community and Parental Involvement
- Communicate with parents regarding students’ academic progress and behavior.
- Encourage students to read newspapers, magazines, and library books to improve language fluency and awareness.
- Promote awareness about the importance of English as a global language.
Desirable Skills and Competencies
- Strong command of English grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
- Good knowledge of English literature (British, Indian, and World).
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using ICT tools for language teaching.
- Ability to create an inclusive and interactive classroom environment.
Eligibility Criteria (As per PSC norms)
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in English Language/Literature + B.Ed. (with English as a teaching subject).
- Additional Requirements: Passing TET/SET/CTET or any other qualification as specified in the PSC notification.

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
