Teacher of Humanities, Travel and Tourism - Aug 2026

We are looking to appoint Teacher of Humanities with Travel and Tourism speciality, to deliver high-quality teaching across the Humanities curriculum and BTEC Travel and Tourism (Level 2 and Level 3), inspiring students through engaging, relevant, and industry-linked learning. The role supports strong academic outcomes, vocational readiness, and progression to further education or employment.

Key Responsibilities Teaching & Learning
  • Teach Humanities subjects (e.g. Geography, History, or related disciplines) across Key Stages 3 and 4, as required.
  • Deliver BTEC Travel and Tourism Level 2 and Level 3, ensuring compliance with Pearson specifications and assessment requirements.
  • Plan and deliver inclusive, well-sequenced lessons that meet the needs of all learners, including SEND and EAL students.
  • Embed real-world and industry-linked learning, making Travel and Tourism vocational content relevant and engaging.
  • Use a range of assessment strategies to inform planning and support student progress.
  • Provide timely, meaningful feedback that supports improvement and progression.
Assessment & Standards
  • Accurately assess and internally verify BTEC coursework in line with awarding body regulations.
  • Maintain clear, organised assessment records and meet all internal and external deadlines.
  • Contribute to standardisation and moderation processes within the department.
  • Prepare students effectively for external examinations and coursework submissions.
Curriculum & Development
  • Contribute to the development and review of Humanities and BTEC curricula, ensuring coherence, progression, and rigour.
  • Support the creation of high-quality schemes of work, resources, and assessment materials.
  • Stay informed about developments in vocational education, tourism trends, and assessment practice.
Pastoral & Professional Responsibilities
  • Act as a form tutor if required, supporting students' academic and personal development.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, effort, and achievement.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Engage fully in the wider life of the school, including CPD, meetings, enrichment activities, and school events.
Person Specification Essential Criteria
  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTS, or international equivalent).
  • A degree in a Humanities subject, Travel and Tourism, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching Humanities and/or BTEC Travel and Tourism at Level 2 and/or Level 3.
  • Strong understanding of vocational assessment requirements and quality assurance processes.
  • Ability to deliver engaging, student-centred lessons that promote progress and independence.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience teaching in an international or British curriculum school.
  • Experience with Pearson BTEC specifications and internal verification processes.
  • Ability to teach an additional Humanities subject.
  • Experience integrating industry links, trips, or guest speakers into vocational courses.
  • A passion for curriculum innovation and real-world learning.
