Teaching and Demonstration Specialist-Case Manager

Project IMPACT is partnering with Clarity HR Solutions to find a compassionate and hands-on Teaching and Demonstration Specialist Case Manager to support the organization’s Family Preservation Program. This position provides intensive, in-home services to families involved with the Los Angeles County child welfare system, with the goal of preventing out-of-home placement and strengthening family functioning.

This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working in the field, enjoys direct engagement with families, and excels at teaching, modeling, and reinforcing positive parenting and daily living skills in real time.

About the Job

The Teaching and Demonstration Specialist provides intensive, in-home support services to families involved with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). This role focuses on strengthening parenting skills, improving family dynamics, and ensuring child safety through a teaching and demonstration approach.

The ideal candidate will be skilled in coaching and behavior modeling, able to build rapport quickly, and comfortable working independently in community-based settings with diverse populations.

Specific Job Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive in-home assessments to evaluate family strengths, risks, and needs
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans in collaboration with DCFS and family members
  • Monitor client progress and adjust service plans as needed
  • Model appropriate parenting techniques and behavior management strategies
  • Demonstrate daily living skills such as household organization, meal preparation, and child supervision
  • Provide hands-on coaching and real-time feedback to caregivers
  • Reinforce skill development through repetition and guided practice
  • Deliver strength-based, solution-focused interventions to support family stability
  • Teach communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills
  • Support families in establishing routines, structure, and safe home environments
  • Coordinate services with DCFS, mental health providers, schools, and community agencies
  • Link families to community resources including housing, healthcare, and financial assistance
  • Advocate for families to ensure access to appropriate services and supports
  • Respond to family crises and provide immediate intervention and support
  • De-escalate conflicts and implement safety plans as needed to ensure child safety
  • Maintain accurate and timely case notes, reports, and required documentation
  • Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and multidisciplinary conferences
  • Ensure compliance with agency, county, and state regulations and standards
  • Travel throughout Los Angeles County to provide in-home and community-based services
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program operations

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field is required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with children and families in a social services setting
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, required
  • Experience working with DCFS or within child welfare systems
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and family preservation models
  • Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current car insurance required
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to teach, model, and coach behavioral change effectively
  • Strong crisis intervention and problem-solving skills
  • Cultural competency and ability to work with diverse populations
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation
  • Ability to work independently in field-based environments

Case Manager, Spanish Speaker, DCFS, Part Time, New to Social Services, 1 year of experience

Pay: $25.00 per hour
