Responsibilities

  • The Teaching Faculty position in the Emergency Management and Homeland Security (EMHS) program has the primary responsibility of delivering high-quality, world-class instruction in both the online and classroom collegiate environment.
  • Responsibilities include developing and delivering courses in all phases of emergency management, courses in homeland security policy, and other related areas.
  • Additional duties include participating in academic committees, collaborating with program, campus, and community partners to support experiential learning opportunities, conducting applied research, and contributing to program goals, strategy, assessment, and continuous improvement.
  • The EMHS program operates in an ad hoc, team-based style requiring strong communication skills, a sense of urgency, and an understanding of utility as linked to public implementation.
  • This position requires the candidate liaison with all levels of government.

Qualifications


Academic doctorate or highest level terminal degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties.

Preferred Qualifications


Competitive applicants will have robust experience teaching in both remote and classroom environments. Candidates with a strong public service understanding are preferred. Practitioner experience working within dynamic disaster environments is strongly preferred, as is demonstrated experience collaborating in multidisciplinary projects and project management. Awareness of international disaster programs is a plus but not required.
