REAB is a next-generation social-media-plus super app, built with a strong focus on privacy, modesty, and speed. We combine social networking, video streaming, payments, courses, creator tools, and cross-platform posting—all in one unified experience. Our tech stack includes Next.js (frontend & backend), Node.js APIs, BytePlus VOD/CDN, Flutter, Python-based recommendation systems, Redis caching, MariaDB, and AWS infrastructure.

We are looking for a highly skilled Tech Lead who is hands-on in coding, strong in backend architecture, and capable of leading a small, fast-moving engineering team.

Role Overview

The Tech Lead will be responsible for:

• Leading the engineering team responsible for REAB.

• Designing, developing, and maintaining backend systems, APIs, and microservices.

• Ensuring seamless integration across modules: video, payments, wallet, notifications, recommendation engine, authentication, and cross-platform posting.

• Assigning tasks, managing timelines, and ensuring engineering delivery meets startup-level velocity and quality.

• Writing high-quality, scalable, clean code while mentoring the rest of the team.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will code daily, review pull requests, architect solutions, refine infrastructure, and drive best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead and manage the engineering team (backend, frontend, Flutter engineers).

• Break down product requirements into technical tasks and assign them to the team.

• Set development deadlines and ensure timely delivery.

• Conduct code reviews, enforce high engineering standards, and mentor junior developers.

• Collaborate directly with the founder and product team for planning, sprint management, and architecture decisions.

Backend Development (Primary Focus)

• Build and maintain scalable backend systems using Node.js (Next.js backend environment).

• Develop internal APIs, external APIs, and microservices for high-load scenarios.

• Optimize performance for REAB’s social feed, video playback, caching, and recommendation logic.

• Implement, improve, and scale Redis caching, server load balancing, and CDN integration.

• Architect databases using MariaDB or migrate to more optimized solutions where needed.

Video & Media Infrastructure

• Integrate and optimize BytePlus VOD, CDN, and video streaming pipelines.

• Improve video load speed, 2-second previews, thumbnails, and transcoding workflows.

• Work with Flutter engineers to ensure seamless video playback on mobile apps.

Wallet, Payments & Subscriptions

• Help build REAB’s multi-country payment wallet infrastructure.

• Integrate bill payments, top-ups, QR payments, and peer-to-peer transfers.

• Work with third-party platforms (e.g., Recurly) for subscription systems.

Cross-Platform Posting

• Maintain and enhance posting pipelines to YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, requiring developer-ID verification and OAuth workflows.

DevOps & Infrastructure

• Deploy and maintain services on AWS & DigitalOcean.

• Improve database memory usage and optimize servers (MariaDB, Redis).

• Set up monitoring, logging, and high-availability environments.

Required Skills & Experience

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.

• Strong expertise in:

• Node.js & backend development

• Next.js (backend & frontend)

• REST APIs / GraphQL

• Relational databases (MariaDB/MySQL)

• Redis caching

• AWS services (EC2, S3, CloudFront, RDS, etc.)

• Experience with:

• Video streaming/CDN (BytePlus, AWS CloudFront, AliCloud, similar)

• Flutter integration workflows

• Authentication systems (JWT, OAuth, etc.)

• High-traffic application optimization

• Strong leadership and team-management skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-moving startup environment.

• Ability to take ownership, think independently, and deliver results.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with Python, especially recommendation engines.

• Knowledge of microservice or macroservice architecture.

• Experience building payment wallets or fintech integrations.

• Familiarity with social media platform APIs (Meta, Google, YouTube).

• Experience with multi-region performance optimization (GCC, Central Asia, SE Asia).
