Technical Accountant – Job Specification

Overview of Role
This role is for a Technical Accountant supporting a UK accountancy practice. You will manage client affairs, review VAT returns for multiple UK companies, and review year-end accounts prepared by junior staff. You will also mentor and support team members based in Pakistan to help build their technical capability. The position reports directly to the Senior Manager (Operations) with a dotted-line reporting to senior management in the UK. The role is office-based at the Silk Centre, Rawalpindi (Murree Road).

Requirements

  • Proven experience working with UK accounts and tax is compulsory.
  • Strong understanding of UK accounting standards (FRS 102 and FRS 105).
  • Ability to review VAT returns, bookkeeping entries, and year-end accounts.
  • Experience working in a structured accounting environment with deadlines.
  • Ability to mentor and support junior colleagues in technical areas.
  • Fluency in English in writing, speaking and listening.
  • Bachelor’s degree minimum. ACCA/ICAP qualified or finalist (study support provided for finalists).
  • Must work from our Rawalpindi office (not a remote role).
  • Able to think independently, solve problems and avoid rigid or box-ticking behaviour.

Skills Required

  • Strong analytical ability and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of tax return preparation and UK compliance processes.
  • Ability to review work logically and identify errors or risks.
  • Strong communication and people skills for mentoring staff.
  • Confident in managing multiple deadlines across different clients.
  • Software experience in Xero, QuickBooks and Excel is compulsory.
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems, workflow tools, and cloud-based file management.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and suggest process improvements.

Salary Package and Working Hours

  • Competitive market salary.

  • Working hours: 1:30pm to 10:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Rs150,000.00 - Rs300,000.00 per month
