Technical Coordinator - Joinery

Role Purpose

To ensure preparation of accurate cutting lists and material take-offs from approved project drawings, ensuring zero errors, minimal wastage, and smooth coordination between design, production, and site teams. This is a senior “A-grade” position requiring very strong technical accuracy and speed.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cutting Lists & Material Take-Off

Study IFC / shop drawings and generate detailed cutting lists for all relevant items (joinery, fit-out elements, metal, etc. as applicable).

Prepare precise material take-off (MTO) and quantity calculations for boards, timber, hardware, finishes, accessories, etc.

Optimize cutting patterns to minimize waste and ensure cost efficiency.

Verify all dimensions, thicknesses, edge details, and finishes before releasing cutting lists.

2. Coordination with Design & Production

Coordinate with drafting/technical team to clarify discrepancies, missing details, and technical issues on drawings.

Liaise with production, procurement, and site teams to align cutting lists with production capacity and project timelines.

Update cutting lists promptly in case of design changes, site instructions, or variation orders.

3. Quality & Documentation

Maintain a clear log of all cutting lists issued, revisions, and approvals.

Ensure that all cutting lists match the latest approved drawings and material submittals.

Support QA/QC by providing technical clarifications related to materials, quantities, and details.

4. Planning & Follow-Up

Work closely with planners and production supervisors to prioritize cutting lists based on project schedule.

Highlight any potential delays, bottlenecks, or material shortages in advance.

Support in preparing material requisitions based on approved MTOs.

Requirements

• Diploma / Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, or related technical discipline.
• 5–8 years of experience in joinery with strong exposure to cutting lists and material take-offs.
• Excellent reading and interpretation of technical drawings (plans, sections, elevations, detailed joinery drawings).
• Strong knowledge of materials (boards, veneers, laminates, hardware, metals, etc.) used in joinery and fit-out works.
• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD and MS Excel (or similar tools) for take-offs and list preparation.
• High attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Strong coordination and communication skills with site, design, and production teams.
