A Technical Manager in a construction company ensures the successful delivery of projects by leading technical aspects, including design review (IFC), value engineering, subcontractor coordination, and compliance with quality/safety standards. Key tasks include managing technical submissions, reviewing site logistics, and providing technical support to site teams. Key Responsibilities
- Design & Engineering Review: Review Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings, shop drawings, and design specifications to ensure accuracy, constructability, and quality.
- Technical Coordination: Lead technical teams to coordinate with consultants, clients, and subcontractors, resolving technical queries (RFIs) and managing submittals.
- Method Statement & Logistics: Develop and approve site logistics plans, method statements, and technical procedures.
- Value Engineering & Cost Control: Identify opportunities for value engineering to reduce costs without compromising quality, and review variations and technical bids.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all construction activities adhere to local regulations, building codes, and safety standards.
- Project Documentation: Oversee the preparation of subcontractor submission master schedules, technical reports, and project handover documents.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Experience: 10+ years in construction, with significant experience in project management, technical office, or site engineering.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, BIM, and local Dubai municipality regulations. Leadership, excellent communication, and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office and project scheduling tools.
Performance Indicators
- Reduction in technical queries and RFIs through proactive review.
- Adherence to project schedules and budgets.
- Minimized non-conformance reports (NCRs).
