Technical Packaging designer

Role Overview: The Technical Package Developer will be responsible for designing and developing custom packaging solutions with a strong focus on structural design, materials, protection, and compliance with manufacturing and shipping requirements. This role demands deep knowledge of packaging construction, die-lines, prototyping, and problem-solving to deliver packages that safeguard products and enhance brand presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

· Design and develop technical package solutions for home décor products, including custom shapes, structures, inserts, and protective features

· Create and manage detailed die-lines, CAD/package drawings, and technical specs that guide manufacturing and prototyping

· Select appropriate materials considering product protection, sustainability, cost, and visual appeal

· Collaborate closely with product design, sourcing, production, and logistics teams to ensure packaging feasibility and compliance

· Coordinate sample development, revisions, and quality checks with suppliers and manufacturers

· Ensure packaging designs meet regulatory standards and shipping protection requirements

· Maintain packaging libraries, documentation, and updates for ongoing production needs

· Identify and implement cost-saving or efficiency improvements in packaging design and materials

· Support sustainability initiatives by recommending eco-friendly materials and designs

Qualifications:

· 5-7 years experience in packaging design and technical development, preferably in home décor or consumer goods

· Proven ability to design complex/custom packaging with a clear understanding of structural design and die-line creation

· Proficient in CAD software (ArtiosCAD, Illustrator, or similar) focused on packaging development

· Strong understanding of material properties, protection methods, and packaging manufacturing processes

· Experience with prototyping, sample review, and quality control processes

· Familiarity with packaging printing methods, finishes, and regulatory requirements

· Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills

· Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, or related field

Preferred Skills:

· Knowledge of sustainable packaging solutions and materials

· Experience working with suppliers and manufacturers globally

· Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
