About This Role
To provide strategic leadership for the Technical Services function by executing the long-term technical strategy and aligning it with the organization's overall business goals. The role ensures the development and implementation of tactical plans that enhance operational efficiency, profitability, stakeholder satisfaction, and technical team capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of practical mine designs, plans, and solutions to ensure safe, efficient and productive mining operations.
- Oversee the mine's annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations.
- Identify and evaluate business risks and opportunities and develop short, medium and long-term improvement strategies.
- Lead and coordinate the annual Mineral Resources and Reserves Statement preparation and reporting.
- Conduct technical peer reviews to assess the soundness, economic viability, risks, and opportunities of technical proposals.
- Perform due diligence and feasibility assessments for new deposits, mine extensions, changes in mining methods, and life‑of‑mine strategies.
- Provide expert guidance and oversight in Geotechnical Engineering, Mine Ventilation, Mine Planning, Surveying and Geology.
- Ensure the development and implementation of best‑practice processes, standards and policies that support the organization's strategic direction.
- Ensure adherence to Mine Planning QA/QC processes, including conducting regular compliance audits.
- Design and maintain a high‑performing planning review framework to monitor planning accuracy, identify risks and drive continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain mine plans, production sequences and associated budgets.
- Monitor, adapt and enhance key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve operational delivery.
- Oversee quality control of ore mined and processed, ensuring optimal recovery and alignment with budgeted performance.

Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related discipline (master's degree preferred).

Minimum of 10 years of progressive technical and operational mining experience, with strong exposure to both open‑pit and underground environments.

Minerals Commission Certificate of Competency (Mine Superintendent/Manager) is desirable.

Valid Ghanaian driving license.

Advanced knowledge of underground and open‑pit mining systems, planning, geotechnical engineering, survey practices, and resource geology.
- Proficiency in 3D modelling and mine planning software.
- Familiarity with mineral processing and metallurgical principles is an advantage.
- Strong working knowledge of numerical modelling tools (e.g., DIPS, UNWEDGE, MAP3D, PHASE2).
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Advanced skills in Whittle or similar pit optimization software extensive experience in ore body and resource modelling.
- High computer literacy, including Excel, MS Project and PowerPoint.
