Technical Specialist – Pharma
Department: Pharmaceuticals
Location: [Cairo, Egypt]
Reports to: Technical Lead/ Business Unit Manager – Pharma

Purpose of the Role
To provide technical support to pharmaceutical customers and the commercial team by offering formulation expertise, product recommendations, and training. The Technical specialist supports business development by bridging the gap between science and sales, ensuring technically sound and regulatory-compliant solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Formulation Development
Provide technical advice and formulation guidance to customers across different dosage forms (e.g., oral solids, injectables, inhalation, topicals).
Evaluate customer needs and recommend suitable excipients, APIs, or functional ingredients from IMCD's portfolio.
Conduct formulation trials, literature reviews, and prepare technical data summaries.
Customer & Sales Team Collaboration
Join customer visits with sales colleagues to support technical discussions and respond to formulation challenges.
Assist in handling customer inquiries related to compatibility, functionality, stability, and regulatory status of ingredients.
Provide product presentations, demos, and technical training internally and externally.
Supplier Interaction & Portfolio Support
Collaborate with global and regional supplier technical teams for product positioning and problem-solving.
Stay up to date with new launches and technologies from IMCD’s principal partners.
Participate in webinars, workshops, or seminars on behalf of IMCD.
Documentation & Regulatory Support
Support customers with documentation requests such as CoAs, TDS, regulatory dossiers, and technical statements.
Ensure compliance with local pharma regulations and contribute to product registration processes when needed.

Key Competencies and Skills
Strong understanding of pharmaceutical formulation and excipient functionality
Good problem-solving and communication skills
Organized, proactive, and customer-service oriented
Easy to travel inside and outside Egypt
Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint and Excel)
Fluent in English and [local language]; scientific writing skills preferred

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field
3-5 years of experience in formulation development or technical support within the pharmaceutical industry
Experience in a technical-commercial role or B2B environment is advantageous
