Technician, Service Drop I

As a Technician, Service Drop, you will be instrumental in the installation and maintenance of underground and aerial drops for both residential and commercial services, including fiber optic and coaxial lines. Your work ensures seamless connectivity, helping us deliver on our promise to provide cutting-edge technology solutions. From signal testing to quality assurance and equipment maintenance, your contributions will be vital to keeping our infrastructure reliable and our customers connected.

Responsibilities:

What You Will Do

In all of your duties, you will have a relentless, obsessive, yet disciplined approach to manage all details to perfection and deliver desired results.

For positions at level I, your duties would include:

  • Determine proper routing of underground drops.
  • Terminate fiber optic and coax drops at tap and house box to company standard.
  • Check and document signals.
  • Complete physical cable placement.
  • Assist in the installation of aerial drops.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is an exceptional introduction to field installation and maintenance, as there is plenty of room to grow and learn from outstanding individuals in the field. From Technician you will have a perfect springboard into all areas of C Spire and develop robust career skills.

For positions at level I, we require:

  • High School diploma or recognized equivalent.
  • Functioning knowledge of fiber and coax frequencies.
  • Ability to learn and develop knowledge of all types of fiber plant in the telecom industry.
  • High degree of interpersonal skills.

We will give special consideration to candidates who have:

  • Prior related experience.
  • U.S. Department of Labor–approved technical certification in fiber optics.
  • Completion of a U.S. Department of Labor–approved technical certification in fiber optics.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Must be able to handle and move 50 lbs. or more. Must be able to work on a ladder for extended periods. Requires good hand-eye coordination and ability to operate tools and equipment. Must be able to traverse difficult terrain, bend, crawl, and work in attics and outdoor weather conditions for extended periods.
