Technology Transfer Officer
Job Purpose
The Technology Transfer Officer will support the mission of Prince Sultan University’s
Technology Transfer Office by Facilitating industry collaborations, promoting the
commercialization of research outputs, and managing intellectual property (IP). This role is
essential in bridging the gap between academic research and real-world applications,
contributing to innovation and Saudi Vision 2030 goals.
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate the evaluation of inventions for patentability, market potential, and licensing

opportunities.

Support the drafting, filing, and management of patent applications in coordination with

legal advisors.

Manage databases of IP disclosures, patents, and licensing agreements.

Facilitate negotiations for licensing agreements, material transfer agreements (MTAs),

and collaboration contracts.

Build relationships with industry, startups, and government entities to foster partnerships

and commercialization opportunities.

Organize workshops, seminars, and training sessions on IP awareness, entrepreneurship,

and innovation.

Contribute to the development of policies and procedures for IP protection,

commercialization, and revenue sharing.

Assist faculty, researchers, and students in identifying inventions and disclosing

intellectual property.
Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Science, or Engineering (Master’s preferred).

Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in technology transfer, IP management, research
-
administration, or related fields.

Knowledge of intellectual property law, patent procedures, and contract management.

Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, researchers, and external stakeholders.

Familiarity with Saudi Vision 2030 and the innovation ecosystem is a plus.
