Job Title: Academic CounsellorJob Summary

The Academic Counsellor is responsible for guiding prospective students, understanding their academic and career goals, and recommending suitable courses offered by the institution. This role involves counselling, course promotion, sales conversion, and maintaining strong student relationships to ensure successful enrolments.

Key Responsibilities1. Student Counselling & Guidance

  • Interact with prospective students to understand their educational background, interests, and career aspirations.
  • Provide accurate information about available courses, curriculum, career outcomes, and learning pathways.
  • Handle walk-ins, phone inquiries, social media leads, and online counselling sessions.

2. Course Promotion & Sales

  • Promote the institution’s courses and convert leads into admissions.
  • Conduct needs assessments to recommend the most suitable programs.
  • Achieve monthly and quarterly enrolment targets set by the management.
  • Follow up regularly with leads through calls, emails, and messages until successful admission.

3. Admission Coordination

  • Assist students throughout the admission process, including application forms, documentation, and payment procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions and enrolments in CRM or internal systems.
  • Coordinate with the academic and administrative teams for smooth onboarding of newly admitted students.

4. Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students to support retention and referrals.
  • Address student queries and concerns regarding courses, schedules, and learning support.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service and satisfaction.

5. Outreach & Marketing Support

  • Participate in events, seminars, webinars, and promotional activities organized by the institution.
  • Represent the institution professionally during school/college visits, education fairs, and public events.
  • Support the marketing team by providing feedback on student expectations and market trends.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (Education, Business, or Marketing preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong sales orientation with the ability to meet targets.
  • Ability to explain information clearly and confidently to students and parents.
  • Good problem-solving skills and a customer-friendly approach.
  • Ability to handle pressure and manage multiple leads simultaneously.
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Office, CRM tools, email communication).

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience in education counselling, tele-counselling, front-desk sales, or academic sales.
  • Knowledge of educational programs, training certifications, or upskilling markets.
