JOB
This is a non-exempt, temporary, part-time position, limited to 1300 hours annually, under supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and/or Coordinator. Leaders are responsible for all participants in a program area and the implementation of all activities at the site assigned to include, but not limited to enforcing rules and leading staff while engaging and interacting with the public to create a fun structured environment. This job description is an overview and is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Responsible for planning and implementation of weekly program of activitiesDirect supervision of all staff at site – includes daily guidance and evaluationsAppropriate management of all youth and adultsFacilitation of activities for all groupsEstablish a positive rapport with all participants/parents in programAttend all staff meetings and training sessions, including any state-mandated coursesResponsible for effectively handling all emergency incidents that occur, using mature, sound judgmentEnsure adequate communication with staff/supervisor/parents and participantsOperates Point of Sale (POS) and registration system to establish memberships and collect feesIMPORTANT FUNCTIONS: Responsible for maintaining current records and data on participants and employeesResponsible for maintaining equipment and supplies and tracking inventoriesMaintains cleanliness of equipment and facilitiesPerform related duties and responsibilities as required.May perform the duties of similar classifications at an equal or lower pay gradePhysical Standards: Ability to stand, walk, and engage in physical activities for extended periodsMust have the ability to lift and move equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds with or without accommodationAdequate vision and hearing to supervise activities and respond to safety concernsProficient use of hands for handling equipment and maintaining facilitiesCommitment to adhering to safety protocols and wearing appropriate attire and gear
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
In addition to the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above, this position requires the following: Must be at least 18 years of age by date of hireMust submit to and pass a pre-employment background checkA high school diploma or equivalent is requiredAt least one year experience in recreation setting SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position involves regular exposure to noise, inclement weather, temperature extremes, and extended direct expose to the sun.CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within six months of appointment. All required licenses and certifications must be maintained throughout the term of employment. Failure to obtain or maintain licenses and certifications may result in demotion or termination. Due to Federal and State Criminal Justice System access requirements, classifications that access and maintain criminal justice information may also be required, as a condition of employment, to not have been convicted of and/or have pending charges of a felony or misdemeanor crime that would deny or otherwise restrict access to criminal justice information.
