Wilson Sonsini is actively seeking a Temporary Special Projects Assistant to join the firm. This temporary position will provide support for special projects within the Patents & Innovations (P&I) team for 6-9 months. The role is designed for individuals to utilize their skills and experience in legal operations, knowledge management, and workflow improvement. This individual will work closely with team leads and subject matter experts to assist with high-impact initiatives and contribute to the team’s operational effectiveness.

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of educational background, skills, and experience that support the successful completion of the essential duties and responsibilities outlined above. This role requires strong attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively on time-sensitive initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of department-wide projects, including knowledge management updates, data clean-up initiatives, and client curation efforts
  • Assist with the transition of annuity data from the patent database to the designated annuity platform, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Help organize and consolidate template libraries and other practice resources across P&I groups
  • Participate in the review and documentation of current workflows from an entry-level perspective and assist in drafting updated processes and standard operating procedures under guidance
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for project planning, tracking, and team communications, including preparing presentations, meeting notes, and reports
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect and validate data supporting P&I initiatives
  • Perform related duties as assigned or directed by supervisor
  • Maintain compliance with all firm policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2+ years of relevant work experience in legal operations, project coordination, or administrative support, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment
  • Strong computer proficiency, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders across multiple teams
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, following instructions and applying standard processes with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable learning new technologies and working with databases, shared drives, and project management tools
  • Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and commitment to high-quality work and service delivery

The primary location for this job posting is in Century City, but other locations may be listed. The actual base pay offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education, professional certifications and licenses, and work location. The anticipated pay range for this position is as follows:

Century City, Austin, Boston, Boulder, Delaware, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Seattle, Washington, D.C., and all other locations: $22.07 – $29.86 per hour.
