Job Purpose
The Tendering Engineer is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and submitting competitive and technically sound project tenders. The role involves analyzing project requirements, preparing cost estimates, coordinating with internal departments and suppliers, and ensuring compliance with client specifications and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Tender Preparation & Submission
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
- Analyze project requirements and prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Develop technical and commercial proposals in line with client requirements.
- Ensure timely submission of tenders with all required documentation.
- Coordination & Communication
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal departments (engineering, procurement, finance, operations) to gather pricing and technical data.
- Coordinate with the project and business development teams for bid strategy.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and clarification sessions with clients/consultants.
- Costing & Pricing
- Prepare detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and cost breakdowns.
- Evaluate alternative materials, methods, and value engineering options to optimize pricing.
- Ensure that cost estimates align with market trends and project execution strategies.
- Compliance & Risk Review
- Review contractual conditions, commercial terms, and technical requirements.
- Identify potential risks and deviations; propose mitigation measures.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and industry standards.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain a database of supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Prepare tender status reports and post-bid analysis.
- Support management in negotiation and finalization of contracts.
Qualifications & Skills Required
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related).
- Experience: 3–7 years of experience in tendering, estimation, or project engineering within construction, MEP, or contracting industries.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of BOQ preparation, costing, and estimation software.
- Familiarity with international standards and tendering procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD/estimating tools.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
