About Unu Textile

Unu Textile is a UAE-based fabric company serving men’s and women’s apparel with premium cottons, prints, and embroidered textiles. We’re growing our in-house design capabilities and are looking for a creative, detail-obsessed Textile Designer who can translate trends into commercial, production-ready designs for both digital fabric printing and digital embroidery.

Role Summary

You will ideate, develop, and deliver repeat patterns, placements, and motifs for printed fabrics and digitized embroidery artworks. You’ll take designs from concept to production, ensuring accurate color, scale, repeats, stitch types, and machine-ready files.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research seasonal trends, motifs, and color stories for Middle East and global markets.
  • Create original repeat patterns (all-over, engineered placements, borders) for digital printing.
  • Prepare production-ready print files (separations, colorways, scale, bleed, ICC profiles, Pantone refs).
  • Develop digital embroidery artworks (motifs, borders, badges) and digitize with suitable stitch types and densities.
  • Optimize designs for various processes: pigment/reactive/sublimation printing; multi-head embroidery.
  • Build clear tech packs: artwork specs, measurements, repeats, stitch counts, thread charts, fabric bases.
  • Collaborate with sampling/production to resolve color, registration, and hand-feel issues.
  • Maintain a design library: motifs, repeats, trims, seasonal palettes, and trend references.
  • Meet deadlines across multiple SKUs with consistent quality control.

Required Skills & Software

  • Strong portfolio in textile prints and embroidery (must include repeat patterns + digitized embroidery samples).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop (pattern making, color separations, half-tones, smart objects).
  • Experience with Wilcom / Hatch / Tajima DG/ML by Pulse (or similar) for embroidery digitizing.
  • Solid understanding of repeat construction (straight, half-drop, brick), rapport, and seamless tiling.
  • Knowledge of color management (Pantone, ICC profiles), and fabric behavior (shrinkage, strike-offs).
  • Familiarity with print processes (digital pigment/reactive/sublimation) and embroidery constraints (stitch types, push/pull compensation, underlay, densities, trims).
  • Accuracy with file prep: vector/raster workflows, clean paths, layers, naming, and export in .AI/.PSD/.TIF/.PDF/.EMB/.DST.
  • Optional plus: CorelDRAW, Procreate, CLO/MD, ColorGate/NeoStampa RIP basics, and fashion CADs.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s in Textile/Fashion Design, Graphic Design, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years in a textile mill, print studio, fashion brand, or embroidery house (fresh graduates with strong portfolios encouraged).
  • Strong sense of color, composition, and market fit for UAE/GCC customers.
