We are seeking a skilled Tiles Mason to install, repair, and finish floor and wall tiles for construction and landscape projects. The candidate must have experience with various tile types, adhesives, and finishing methods, ensuring high-quality workmanship and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and prepare pool surfaces (concrete, plaster, etc.)
- Cut and lay pool tiles with precision, ensuring proper alignment
- Apply adhesive, grout, and joint fillers suited for underwater use
- Install tiles on floors, walls, steps, and pool edges (coping)
- Maintain consistency in spacing and design matching
- Seal grout and tiles to prevent leakage
- Clean excess grout and polish tile surfaces
- Inspect for defects and correct any tile displacement
- Conduct finishing touches to meet pool safety and aesthetic standards
- Follow safety procedures and use PPE
- Coordinate with pool builders, plumbers, and engineers
- Maintain tools and equipment
- Report progress and any structural concerns to supervisors
- Clean, level, and waterproof the substrate
- Calculate material requirements and layout tile patterns
- Ensure proper slope for water flow and drainage
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not always required)
- 3–5 years of experience as a Tiles Mason
- Proven experience specifically in pool tiling, wet areas, and waterproofing
- Experience working with ceramic, porcelain, glass mosaic, natural stone, and specialty pool tiles
- Familiarity with pool-grade adhesives, waterproof membranes, grout, and sealants
- Knowledge of slope, drainage, and pool finishing standards
- Understanding of construction safety practices and local building codes
- Technical/vocational training in tiling, masonry, or construction
- Certification in tile installation or waterproofing (advantageous)
- Tile cutting, shaping, and layout planning
- Surface leveling and substrate preparation for pools
- Applying waterproof membranes and ensuring no leakage points
- Handling mosaic tiles and sheet-mounted tiles
- Understanding pool chemistry effects on tile materials
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to maintain symmetry, alignment, and consistent spacing
- High-quality finishing for aesthetic and functional durability
- Can identify structural or surface issues before tiling
- Capable of reading blueprints and pool design plans
- Efficient time management and project planning
- Installing tiles on curved, vertical, and submerged surfaces
- Application of waterproofing and bonding materials
- Skilled in using manual and electric tile-cutting tools
- Knowledge of grout mixture, sealing, and finishing techniques
