At Georgia State University, the Payroll, Time and Absence, and Payroll Accounting & Reporting department issues more than 100,000 payments each year to approximately 15,000 faculty, staff, and student employees within the university.

The Payroll, Time and Absence, and Payroll Accounting & Reporting department is seeking to hire a Time & Leave Specialist. The Time & Leave Specialist monitors the time & leave tickets to ensure all tickets are resolved in a timely manner and assign tickets to the appropriate resource.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

This position serves as a point of contact for GSU users of the Time and Labor and Absence Management modules within the PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) System.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for GSU users of the Time and Labor and Absence Management modules within the PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) System.
  • Provide Customer Service by interpreting and responding to questions from employees, supervisors and other GSU departments,
  • Monitoring time & leave tickets and email inquiries to ensure all tickets are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Run and analyze time and leave queries and reports.
  • Materially participate in the biweekly and monthly payroll processing activities.
  • Research time/absence errors and provide resolution prior to the processing of the pay run.
  • Assists with the processing of Clearance Forms
  • Ensure time and absence transactions are processed in a timely manner.
  • Provide leave audit support.
  • Assist with the compensated absence reconciliation.
  • Run reports and queries to monitor time reporter panel data to ensure all employees are set up correctly.
  • Proactively analyze time reporter panel data compared to job data to help prevent payroll-related errors.
  • Update approved time reporter panel data.
  • Perform project-related payroll tasks.
  • Provide back-up support for the Payroll Department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED and three years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Requires good interpersonal communication skills to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and managers.
  • Good written communication skills are also required.
  • Strong organizational skills and highly detail-orientated professional
  • Ability to comfortably work in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Preferred Requirements:

  • Skilled in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint & Word)
  • A high degree of discretion, professional ethics, and judgment in confidential matters and information
  • Ability to maintain composure and good judgment when dealing with deadlines, dissatisfied employees, or a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities as needed.
  • Desire to work as a team with a results-driven approach.


    Anticipated Hiring Range: 17.12/hr (minimum) – $20.53/hr (midpoint)


    Salary offers will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications in relation to the Minimum Hiring Standards. Candidates earlier in their careers are typically offered salaries closer to the minimum of the hiring range, while those with more advanced or relevant experience may be considered for compensation at or above the hiring range.
