Job Title: Plastic Tool Room Engineer
Department: Tool Room / Mould Maintenance / Production Engineering
Reports To: Tool Room Manager / Production Head
Job Summary:
The Plastic Tool Room Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, manufacturing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing injection moulds, blow moulds, and other tooling components used in plastic part production. The role ensures that tools operate efficiently, meet dimensional and quality standards, and support uninterrupted production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tool Design & Development
- Design plastic injection and blow moulds using CAD software (e.g., Auto CAD, Solid Works, UG NX, CATIA, etc.).
- Collaborate with product design and production teams to develop cost-effective and manufacture tooling solutions.
- Review and analyze mould drawings and part feasibility.
- Tool Manufacturing & Assembly
- Supervise and participate in tool manufacturing processes such as milling, turning, EDM, wire cutting, and grinding.
- Assemble, fit, and finish new moulds according to design specifications.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy through measurement and inspection.
- Tool Maintenance & Repair
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of existing moulds.
- Diagnose and repair tool-related issues such as wear, flash, mismatch, or dimensional deviations.
- Maintain documentation for tool maintenance, modifications, and repairs.
- Production Support
- Support production trials, first-off samples, and validation of new tools.
- Optimize cycle times, cooling systems, and mould performance to improve production efficiency.
- Coordinate with the production team to resolve moulding issues related to tooling.
- Quality & Documentation
- Ensure moulds and components meet dimensional and functional requirements.
- Maintain records of tool life, maintenance schedules, and spare parts inventory.
- Adhere to safety, quality, and ISO/TS standards.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of plastic moulding processes (injection, blow, compression, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with tool room machines (lathe, milling, surface grinder, EDM, wire cut).
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for mould design and modification.
- Knowledge of mould materials, heat treatment, and surface finishing.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
Education & Experience:
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Tool & Die Making, Plastics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering,
- Experience: 2–8 years in Tool Room operations, preferably in the plastic injection moulding industry.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹18,500.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
