Job Purpose
The Tools Keeper is responsible for the proper custody, issuance, return, and maintenance of all workshop tools and equipment. The role ensures tools are available, functional, and well-organized to support smooth workshop operations and minimize losses or downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of all tools, equipment, and consumables in the tool store.
- Issue tools to technicians/workshop staff against proper acknowledgment and ensure timely return.
- Inspect tools before issuing and upon return; report damaged or missing tools immediately.
- Ensure tools are cleaned, stored properly, and arranged systematically for easy identification.
- Conduct regular tool inventory checks and reconcile discrepancies.
- Coordinate with workshop management for tool repair, calibration, or replacement.
- Monitor tool usage to prevent misuse, loss, or unauthorized access.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and workshop SOPs related to tool handling.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the tool room/store.
- Assist in preparing tool requirement lists for procurement and workshop expansion.
- Support audits and internal inspections by providing accurate tool records.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Tools Keeper, Storekeeper, or similar role (automotive/workshop experience preferred).
- Basic knowledge of workshop tools and equipment.
- Good record-keeping and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and under supervision.
- Basic computer knowledge (Excel or inventory systems is an advantage).
- Physically fit to handle tools and equipment.
