Training Partner - OnSite Requirement

POSITION SUMMARY

The Training Partner position will be responsible for providing direct guidance, coaching and preparation for newly hired employees, consistent with Hoyleton’s CARE agency practice model. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Information Systems and Performance Improvement, will work closely program and department supervisor, and Human Resources to ensure employees are fully trained and supported in their position.

Training Partners will be assigned to specific programs and/or administrative departments to collaboratively support the new employees in those areas. In addition, the Training Partner delivers a variety of training programs, including new hire orientation, CARE, TCI, CPR and other mandated trainings; tracks staff attendance, maintains training records and assists with management of training assignments. The Training Partner will meet additional agency staff training needs as assigned by the Dir. of ISPI

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Will conduct orientation and training of new employees on a rotating basis. Will observe and assess the work, and document assessment of new hires along with their completion of orientation tasks.
• Will assist the Dir. of ISPI and Dir. of HR in the development and ongoing improvement of the orientation curriculum and process.
• Trains staff on TCI techniques and CARE principles. Observes new hires in practice situations and offers “in the moment” coaching on use of TCI techniques and practice guided by the CARE principles. Assesses willingness and ability of new hires to apply CARE principles in practice and shares assessment with new hires and their supervisor.
• Co-hairs meetings with other trainers (TCI / CARE).
• Documents training assignments and attendance in the electronic training system.
• Rotates new hires into teams to shadow veteran staff, while evaluating the performance of new hires and works with the supervisors to facilitate skill building and development plans.
• Works in conjunction with programs and departments to address issues related to staff non-compliance with training, including specific reporting related to compliance as needed
• Supports new employees in the use of electronic job specific and agency wide data systems.
• Maintains familiarity with applicable policy and procedures and assures compliance in training materials.
• Remains current on community training opportunities and informs staff of options they may benefit from.
• Periodic travel to other agency sites aside from primary work location to assist in improvement and training tasks

Requirements:

SKILLS and ABILITIES

• Must be capable of becoming a CARE Educator and TCI Trainer, with ability to pass TCI exams.
• The ability to understand the issues of trauma, separation and loss for the child in care and a commitment to a child's right to belong to a family.
• The ability to provide service in a manner that reflects appreciation for the cultural background, heritage, and identity of staff and clients.
• Excellent oral presentation and written communication skills.
• Possess a driver's license in good standing and provide proof of insurance.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program in social work, related human services field or business

and/or three years’ experience in a human service or business setting.

Eligibility for Child Welfare licensure by DCFS preferred.

Supervisory experience preferred

CARE & TCI

Hoyleton has adopted the CARE (Children and Residential Experience), developed by Cornell University, to guide our culture and practice. CARE is grounded in six core principles: Developmentally Focused, Family Involved, Relationship Based, Ecologically Oriented, Competence Centered, and Trauma Informed.

Completion of CARE and TCI training is an internal requirement for all staff and must be completed upon hire. Ongoing application of these principles is expected and essential to successful job performance.

TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention). Employees must:

• Pass the written test annually
• Pass the physical test every six months (if applicable to their role)
