River Road TMS, LLC is a Nurse Practitioner–owned and operated practice specializing in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for treatment-resistant depression, OCD and related conditions using Neurostar Advanced TMS Therapy. We are committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based care in a collaborative, patient-centered environment. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a board-certified psychiatrist to join our team as an independent contractor.

Position Overview

The Contract Psychiatrist will provide supervisory TMS evaluation and treatment services. This is a flexible, low-volume role ideal for a psychiatrist interested in part-time consulting work in a supportive outpatient setting. Some of the duties would be virtual/telehealth.

Responsibilities

• Perform TMS consultations/ evaluations for patients being considered for TMS treatment (in-person or via telehealth, depending on insurance requirements).
• Provide diagnostic clarification, treatment recommendations, and medical appropriateness determinations for TMS candidacy.
• Be available for periodic consultation on clinical cases involving TMS patients.
• Complete documentation in compliance with clinic standards, regulatory requirements, and payer guidelines.
• Conduct periodic chart reviews as needed for quality assurance and medical oversight.
• Complete required Neurostar clinical training
• Complete credentialing with River Road TMS, LLC (paid for by practice)
• Collaborate with the NP owner and clinical team to ensure safe and effective delivery of TMS services.
• Maintain active communication and uphold professional practice standards as an independent contractor.

Qualifications

• Board Certification in Psychiatry (MD) required.
• Active, unrestricted medical license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Experience with TMS preferred but not required—training can be provided.
• Comfort working collaboratively with nurse practitioners in a team-based care model.
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, and documentation skills.
• Ability to provide services as a 1099 independent contractor.

Schedule & Compensation

• Flexible schedule; evaluations typically scheduled in advance.
• Estimated workload: [example: 2–6 evaluations per month + intermittent consult availability], time committment approximately 2-6 hours per month
• Competitive contract rate based on experience and time commitment.
