Transitional Facilities Correctional Case Manager

The North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (ND DOCR) is hiring a Correctional Case Manager at the Missouri River Correctional Center (MRCC) in Bismarck, ND. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team. As a Correctional Case Manager, you will play a vital role in fostering a safe, secure, and rehabilitative environment. This position provides case management services to individuals at MRCC, a minimum-custody facility, as well as those placed in contract facilities and county jails.

The Correctional Case Manager provides comprehensive case management services to meet the individual needs of residents at the Missouri River Correctional Center (MRCC), a minimum-custody facility, and those placed in contract facilities and county jails.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting resident interviews to assess risk levels and individual needs.
  • Assisting residents in setting personal goals and supporting their progress toward positive change.
  • Monitoring and documenting all resident progress and behavior.
  • Collaborating regularly with DOCR staff, law enforcement, social services, and other community partners to ensure coordinated care.
  • Providing recommendations on resident movement between housing units, DOCR facilities, and contract placements.
  • Coordinating with parole and probation officers, treatment providers, mental health counselors, and external agencies to address resident needs and mitigate risk factors.
  • Maintaining and updating inmate records and compiling case information for the Parole Board.
  • Assisting residents in addressing legal matters prior to release, including child support, custody issues, warrants, and detainers.
  • Developing individualized release plans and supporting coordination with DOCR and other correctional agencies, including halfway house placements and supervision requirements.
  • Completing and submitting offender registration documentation in compliance with NDCC 12.1-32-15 and initiating legal proceedings as necessary.
  • Facilitating evidence-based programming, including Effective Practices in Community Supervision (EPICS).
  • Some travel is required for this position.

To be considered for this role, you must have a bachelor's degree and two years of work experience in corrections, law enforcement, security, or related military.

OR

A High School diploma or GED and six years work experience in corrections, law enforcement, security, or related military, with at least four years of work experience in corrections. College level course work may replace experience requirements on a year for year basis, up to two years.
