MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION: الغرض من المسمى الوظيفي:

• To provide clear, accurate, and context-sensitive translation and interpretation between Chinese and English across company documents, meetings, and communications.
• To ensure linguistic, cultural, and professional accuracy, supporting operational, legal, and technical requirements for polymer manufacturing, supply chain operations, and general business administration in Muscat and Sohar.

DUTIES: المهام الوظيفية:

• Provide precise written translation of documents including contracts, technical specifications, business correspondence, marketing materials, and reports between Chinese and English, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
• Deliver fluent verbal interpretation during meetings, conference calls, factory visits, and commercial negotiations involving Chinese-speaking partners and stakeholders.
• Proofread and review translated materials to maintain the highest standards of accuracy, consistency, and appropriate tone in all languages.
• Act as a cultural advisor by ensuring communication nuances, idioms, and business etiquette are properly respected to foster positive relationships.
• Support Procurement and Logistics teams by translating shipping documents, certificates, and communications with Chinese suppliers and logistics providers.
• Assist Business Development and senior management in preparing multilingual presentations, proposals, and other client-facing materials for Chinese clients or partners.
• Manage and update terminology databases, translation memories, and glossaries to ensure consistency across all company documents and communications.
• Coordinate effectively with internal departments such as Shared Services, Finance, Operations, and HSE to facilitate understanding and execution of projects requiring Chinese language expertise.
• Accompany visiting Chinese delegations during site visits at Sohar plant or meetings in Muscat, providing simultaneous interpretation and logistical support as required.
• Support operational teams including Plant Operations and management with multilingual communication needs, ensuring clear and confidential exchange of information.
• Maintain strict confidentiality over all translated information and sensitive communication in line with company policies.
• Collaborate with external partners, suppliers, and relevant regulatory bodies to assist with translation and interpretation requirements as needed.
• Travel between Muscat and Sohar as required by business needs.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: المهارات والكفاءات:

• Exceptional written and verbal fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English is mandatory.
• Professional proficiency in Modern Standard Arabic is a highly advantageous requirement.
• Strong cultural understanding of China and the Arab world, with the ability to mediate between different business practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective liaison between all parties.
• High level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
• Superior attention to detail and commitment to linguistic accuracy.
• Ability to work independently under remote supervision and manage multiple priorities.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE: المؤهلات و الخبرات:

• Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, Chinese/English/Arabic Literature, International Business, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years' demonstrated experience in professional translation and interpretation between Chinese and English, preferably in an industrial, manufacturing, or legal environment
• Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English.
• Demonstrable professional proficiency in Arabic is a significant advantage.
• Proficiency with translation memory tools and the Microsoft Office Suite.
