    Transportation Administrative Assistant/Dispatcher

    Salary: 18.50 – 21.50 per hour (Commensurate with Training or Experience)
    Benefits: Yes
    Hours: 6:30 - 9:30a -11:30a – 5:00 p.m.
    Reports To
    The Transportation Administrative Assistant will report to the Director of Transportation, Assistant Director of Transportation and/or Supervisor of Transportation or Designee.
    Job Overview
    Assist in supervision and maintaining the daily operations of the Transportation Department. Assist in all areas of transportation including safely transporting students to and from school, field trips, and routing. Maintain a solution driven demeanor in all phone conversations with parents, staff, and the general public. Exhibit knowledge of street locations and directions within the district. Provide student specific transportation information to eligible customers. Assist with crisis management situations under the directive of the District administrative team.
    Possible other duties as directed by the Director of Transportation, Assistant Director, and/or Supervisor.
    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Promote customer service, interact and communicate effectively with parents, students, principals and colleagues.
    • Coordinate and maintain our student tracking program to assure maximum optimization.
    • Assist with the coordination and scheduling of Field trips, input trips, mileage, updates, and/or assignments.
    • Drive bus routes, field trips, etc. as needed when directed.
    • Guide all interested applicants through the application process as needed.
    • Process all new hire paperwork, training, and conduct new hire orientations.
    • Maintain all new and current driver's information (Safety Cards, CDL License, Physical information, and updated vital information for State Audit)
    • Communicates and responds to school principals, District staff, and external stakeholders on school transportation issues (real or perceived) for the purpose of correcting and/or making changes as appropriate.
    • Assist the Supervisor in Routing as directed.
    • Use the GPS Bus tracking program to address District and parent concerns as needed.
    • Place orders for office and garage shop supplies, services, etc. including securing purchase orders from Central Office.
    • Assists other personnel and performs other duties as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
    • Monitor and maintain two-way/dispatch radio communications with all buses on routes
    • Other duties as directed by the Director and Supervisor of Transportation.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    High School diploma or equivalent, college preferred; experience supervising employees; knowledgeable and willing to learn about all aspects of transportation safety procedures and policies; Excellent verbal and written skills are essential. Experience working with Microsoft, and Versa Trans Routing experience preferred. Hold a current CDL License with P & S endorsements or be willing to obtain licensure within 90 days. Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well across a variety of multi-cultural, multi-experience multibackground audiences including students, staff, administration, parents and the community. Must be able to work in a high-paced, dynamic office environment. Must be available after hours for job emergencies.
