Transportation Dispatcher/Scheduler

About the Role

The Scheduler/Dispatcher is a key part of the operations team, ensuring vehicles and drivers are coordinated efficiently to provide safe, reliable transportation services. This role involves daily communication with drivers, problem-solving in real time, and supporting both passengers and staff.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Create, refine, and optimize routes for efficiency and reliability
  • Provide on-road driver support via radio communications
  • Respond quickly to incidents and assist with reroutes or detours
  • Facilitate and manage scheduling software
  • Monitor service delivery, delays, and interruptions, and work to resolve issues
  • Assign vehicles, manage driver report times, and distribute route information
  • Perform data entry, reporting, and general recordkeeping
  • Answer incoming calls, provide information, and direct inquiries appropriately
  • Support overall fleet operations and office staff as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Strong reliability and punctuality are essential
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • Must pass BCI/FBI background check and drug/alcohol testing
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Strong customer service and communication abilities
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and manage time effectively
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office programs and general computer use
  • Ability to read and understand manuals, procedures, and correspondence
