Transportation Driver

Job Title: Transportation Driver for Youth

Position Summary: The Transportation Driver is responsible for safely transporting children to and from school, appointments, and various extracurricular activities. They are tasked with ensuring the safety and well-being of children during transit, maintaining schedules, and adhering to all traffic and safety regulations. The driver must be patient, attentive, and possess strong communication skills to interact with children, parents, and school or agency staff.

Essential Functions:

1. Transportation Duties:

o Transport children safely to schools, appointments, and activities.

o Maintain a punctual and reliable schedule, ensuring children arrive on time.

o Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and agency policies.

2. Safety and Supervision:

o Ensure the safety of children during transit, including enforcing seat belt usage.

o Conduct vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure the vehicle is safe and clean.

o Manage behavioral issues calmly and appropriately during transportation.

3. Communication:

o Communicate with parents or guardians about schedules, delays, or issues that arise.

o Report any incidents or concerns to supervisors and complete necessary documentation.

4. Documentation and Maintenance:

o Maintain accurate records of mileage, gas usage, and trip details.

o Perform basic vehicle maintenance, such as refueling and reporting any repair needs.

5. Miscellaneous:

o Assist children with entering and exiting the vehicle.

o Provide guidance to children on proper behavior during transport.

o Participate in any required safety or operational training.

Performance/Physical Requirements:

· Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.

· Ability to manage the safety and behavior of multiple children at once.

· Ability to operate a large vehicle (e.g., van or bus).

· Attention to detail, especially regarding safety protocols.

· Physical capability to assist children with mobility needs if required.

Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

· Day shift

· School hours or after-school activities

· Monday to Friday

· Occasional weekends or evening trips depending on activities
