POSITION: TRANSPORTATION OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR REPORTS TO: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: This position is accountable to the Assistant Director of Transportation for the direct supervision of Transportation Liaisons, WPS Aides to the Physically Handicapped (School Bus Drivers), School Bus Drivers (Big Bus), and School Bus Monitors within the guidelines of state and federal regulations, and the goals and policies of the Worcester Public Schools. Professionally communicate with transportation staff, students, parents, school administrators and staff and others to direct and convey expectations. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Responsible for assisting the Director of Transportation and Assistant Director of Transportation: 1. In supervising and evaluating the Transportation Department Liaisons.2.
In supervising and evaluating of bus drivers and monitors.3. In the management of the operations office functions.4. In monitoring driver and monitor adherence to expected time scheduled, including report times and return to school bus operations office, with road observations as necessary.5. On non-school days when special needs children and any other students are being transported, to include weekends.6.
In handling the needs of parents, principals, drivers, and monitors.7. Bachelors Degree 2. Minimum of three years management experience in public school transportation 3. Experience using VersaTrans, school bus routing software.4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical and/or complex concepts in an understandable manner.5.
Ability to respond to emergencies 24/76. Demonstrated experience in the use of technology.7. Demonstrated experience in prioritizing and performing tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.8. Demonstrated experience advising, directing, supervising and evaluating subordinates in the performance of their work and in the development of their abilities.
9. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all members of the school community, including School Committee, administrators, teachers, parents and the community.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. Employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach.
Employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
