Job Title: Resident Transporter
Department: Nursing
Reports to: Administrator / Director of Nursing
Position Summary:
The Resident Transporter is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting residents within the facility and to outside medical appointments, ensuring comfort, dignity, and safety at all times. This position plays a vital role in supporting clinical staff, rehabilitation services, and overall resident satisfaction by providing dependable transportation services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Transport residents to external medical appointments, hospitals and other healthcare facilities as scheduled.
- Assist residents with transfers (wheelchair, stretcher, or ambulation) following proper safety and infection control protocols.
- Secure wheelchairs and equipment properly during transport.
- Monitor residents for any signs of distress during transport and immediately report concerns to the nursing staff.
- Maintain resident dignity, privacy and comfort at all times.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, therapy departments, and administrative personnel regarding schedules and transport needs.
- Maintain and update transport schedules based on the residents' needs.
- Perform routine safety checks and maintain cleanliness of the transport equipment and vehicles.
- Adhere to facility policies of OSHA guidelines, and infection control standards.
- Assist with additional non-clinical support tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid Driver's license.
- Clean driving record.
- CPR certified (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Experience in healthcare, long-term care or rehabilitation setting preferred.
- Ability to safely operate wheelchairs, stretchers and other transport equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical ability to lift, push and assist residents safely (may require lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance).
- Frequent standing, walking, bending and lifting.
- Ability to assist with resident transfers.
- Ability to push wheelchairs and stretchers for extended periods of time.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
