Essential Functions

PATIENT/ITEM TRANSPORTS:
Responds to dispatches to ensure patients/items are transported to appropriate location in a timely manner.
Assists patients/visitors entering, exiting and throughout the hospital.
Transports patient equipment/supplies/charts/specimens/blood to and from clinical departments.
Transports dirty equipment from nursing units to CSP.
Directs and/or escorts patients/guests..
Drives Phoebe vehicle to transport x-rays, blood, medicine, supplies and other items as needed to and from outside facilities.

PATIENT SAFETY:
Ensures equipment is working properly and is clean for safety of patients.
Sanitizes wheelchairs and stretchers after each patient transport.
Identifies broken/unsafe equipment and takes out of service.
Follows hand hygiene protocol for all patient transports.

TRAFFIC CONTROL:
Provide safety for patients/guests.
Monitors traffic in front of hospital to ensure safety of patients/guests entering/exiting facility.

PATIENT/GUEST SERVICES:
Provides valet service for patient/guests to enhance customer service.
Offers valet parking for patients/guests meeting guidelines.
Communicates via radio for prompt response to patients/guests needs.

TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT USE:
Demonstrates technical skill in using equipment appropriate for role.
Understands equipment operation.
Maintains equipment in working order.
Troubleshoots equipment problems.
Uses technology to increase productivity.
Adapts to new technology

Additional Duties
Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization.
Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs).
Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.

For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
