Description

American Traveler is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with NICU and adult critical care experience for a night shift travel assignment at a teaching hospital in Maryland.

Details

  • Short-term acute care teaching hospital and Council of Teaching Hospitals (COTH) member facility with 338 staffed beds
  • NICU unit with float requirement between Adult and NICU departments
  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:30–07:00
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage expected
  • No on-call requirement
  • Charting via Cerner (experience preferred)
  • Ventilators used include Draeger V500, Draeger VN500, and Servo U
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • CRT certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an RRT in Adult Critical Care and NICU
  • MD state licensure required if applicable
  • At least 1 prior travel assignment completed
  • BLS required
  • ACLS preferred
  • ED experience preferred
  • Proficiency with airway management including endotracheal intubation/suctioning, extubation, tracheostomy care, BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
  • Experience with inhaled medications including albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, and related aerosol therapies
  • Experience drawing and analyzing ABGs, including umbilical blood gases
  • Experience assisting in high-risk deliveries
  • Preferred skills: bronchoscopy, inhaled Flolan, Nitric Oxide (iNO), Mucomyst, Theophylline, Ketamine, and Bicarbonate administration
  • 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include airway management, pulmonary hygiene, sputum specimen collection, ABG interpretation, nebulizer and inhaler setup, and weaning patients from mechanical ventilation
  • Candidates must be comfortable managing and troubleshooting ventilator alarms
  • Flu vaccine is required for all staff at this facility
  • Ceil blue scrubs required; scrubs are not provided by the facility
  • Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are eligible at a local rate
  • All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
