Description

American Traveler is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) for a night shift inpatient position at a Level 1 Trauma facility, requiring Epic EMR experience and a solid understanding of all aspects of respiratory care.

Details

  • Inpatient hospital setting at a Level 1 Trauma facility
  • Respiratory Care department serving both inpatient units and the Emergency Room
  • Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
  • No on-call requirement
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy required
  • NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential required
  • Illinois RCP license required (if applicable)
  • BLS certification required (American Heart Association)
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
  • Solid understanding of all aspects of respiratory care
  • English proficiency required (speaking, reading, and writing)
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include evaluating patients for routine respiratory care therapy on inpatient units and in the Emergency Room
  • Performs and analyzes arterial, venous, and capillary blood gases
  • Completes assessments on ventilator patients and recommends timely interventions or referrals as needed
  • Accurately charts on respiratory flow sheets, care plans, and charges within the Epic EMR
  • Prepares, tests, and maintains respiratory therapy equipment; reports malfunctions to management
  • Assists with cleaning and stocking respiratory care equipment and supplies on inpatient units
  • Records procedures, patient responses, and sleep therapy documentation, and relays information to physicians as needed
  • RTO not to exceed 7 days per 13-week contract
  • Candidates who have previously worked at this health system may not have been on continuous assignment for more than 1 year; a 6-month break in service is required before returning
