American Traveler is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) for a night shift inpatient position at a Level 1 Trauma facility, requiring Epic EMR experience and a solid understanding of all aspects of respiratory care.

Inpatient hospital setting at a Level 1 Trauma facility

Respiratory Care department serving both inpatient units and the Emergency Room
-
Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
-
Three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
-
No on-call requirement
-
13-week contract
-
Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy required
-
NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential required
-
Illinois RCP license required (if applicable)
-
BLS certification required (American Heart Association)

Epic EMR experience required
-
Level 1 Trauma experience required
-
Solid understanding of all aspects of respiratory care

English proficiency required (speaking, reading, and writing)

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Responsibilities include evaluating patients for routine respiratory care therapy on inpatient units and in the Emergency Room

Performs and analyzes arterial, venous, and capillary blood gases
-
Completes assessments on ventilator patients and recommends timely interventions or referrals as needed
-
Accurately charts on respiratory flow sheets, care plans, and charges within the Epic EMR
-
Prepares, tests, and maintains respiratory therapy equipment; reports malfunctions to management
-
Assists with cleaning and stocking respiratory care equipment and supplies on inpatient units
-
Records procedures, patient responses, and sleep therapy documentation, and relays information to physicians as needed
-
RTO not to exceed 7 days per 13-week contract

Candidates who have previously worked at this health system may not have been on continuous assignment for more than 1 year; a 6-month break in service is required before returning
