American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 1 year of experience for a night shift, 13-week travel contract floating between acute and long-term care facilities in the Eastern Region of New York.

Night shift hours: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM (3x12-hour shifts)

Floats between Eastern Region hospitals ranging from long-term care to acute care settings as needed; specific location determined during scheduling

Patient population includes diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, pneumonia, respiratory failure, and respiratory infections
-
Special procedures include ABG sampling, ventilator management, patient assessment, medication administration, and pulmonary hygiene
-
Specialized equipment includes Hamilton Vent, Servo-U, NKV330, and V60 ventilators
-
Epic EMR experience preferred
-
Every other weekend coverage required (approximately 6 weekend shifts per 13-week contract)

A personal vehicle is required due to the rural nature of many locations in the Eastern Region, where rideshare services are unreliable

Active RRT license required if applicable

Current BLS and RRT certifications required

Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience

Proficiency in adult critical care and emergency department settings

Skills required: extubation, intubation assist, nasal and oral airway placement, oral/nasal suctioning, sputum specimen collection, ETT/NT suctioning, tracheostomy care and management

Experience with equipment including hand-held nebulizers, T-piece, trach collar, bag and mask, ET tube, HFNC, BiPAP, and CPAP

Ability to troubleshoot high-pressure alarms and manage weaning from mechanical ventilation

Long-term care experience required

2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years

Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained

Call-off policy allows up to 3 shifts per 13-week assignment; shifts where the candidate is placed on-call in lieu of being called off count toward this total
