Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with critical care experience for a night shift position at a high-volume Level I Trauma Center serving adult and geriatric populations.

Details

  • 13-week travel assignment at a 703-bed acute care Magnet-designated teaching hospital affiliated with a medical school
  • Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatric) with high-volume ER, neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU patients
  • Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with a 1:25 therapist-to-patient ratio
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
  • One holiday shift required per 13-week contract
  • Floating within skillset is required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Equipment includes Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow heated high flow, iNOvent with iNO, and LTV1200
  • Robust Assess and Treat protocol in place, with ventilator management and liberation policy

Requirements

  • RRT credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required — CRT not accepted
  • VA Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner required; other state licenses accepted with the requirement to obtain a 90-day temporary authorization while the VA permanent license is processed — license required if applicable
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Critical care experience in a high-volume ER and/or Level I Trauma Center required, including neurotrauma, cardiovascular, and medical/surgical ICU
  • Proficiency in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, flow-by, high-pressure alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
  • Competency in ABG interpretation
  • Experience with aerosol and medication delivery systems including mask, trach, MDI, and Medihaler, with ability to administer Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Pulmicort, Mucomyst, racemic epinephrine, inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, bicarbonate, and lidocaine
  • Airway management skills including extubation, oral/nasal airway placement, suctioning, sputum collection, and tracheostomy care
  • Proficiency in oxygen therapy and nebulizer setups (handheld, T-piece, trach collar, ultrasonic)
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Two professional references required for consideration
  • PDF copies of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory therapy services across a high-acuity acute care environment including ER, neurotrauma, cardiovascular, and ICU settings
  • First-time travelers are considered; one year of prior travel experience is preferred
  • All RTO, block scheduling, and special scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
  • The facility operates as a certified Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center with a dedicated children's hospital on campus
