Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with adult acute care experience for a 13-week night shift contract at an acute care hospital in Austin, TX.

Details

  • Respiratory Therapy department located within an acute care hospital setting
  • Department staffed with approximately 50 respiratory therapy professionals, with 7–9 staff and 1 supervisor per shift
  • Adult patient population; assignments are volume-based at approximately 35–40 patients per shift
  • Equipment used includes GE ventilators, V60 BiPAPs, and Airvo High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
  • EMR: Meditech
  • Night shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
  • Rotating weekends with approximately 4 weekend shifts per month
  • No on-call required
  • CRT credentials accepted

Requirements

  • Active RRT credential required; CRT candidates will also be considered
  • Active ACLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted); certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the start date
  • Minimum 1 year of adult respiratory therapy experience in an acute care setting
  • Must have worked in the specialty within the last 6 months
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
  • US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no exceptions; Canadian SSNs are not accepted
  • One professional reference required (two required for candidates licensed in Florida or Missouri)
  • License required if applicable
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible

Additional Information

  • Typical procedures include nebulizers, chest physiotherapy (CPT), arterial blood gases (ABGs), ventilator management, inhaled nitric oxide, bronchoscopy assistance, intubation assistance, and transporting mechanically ventilated patients within the hospital (e.g., to CT/MRI)
  • Adult critical care experience (ICU or ED) is preferred
  • Collaborative team environment working alongside RT staff and other hospital disciplines
  • Required scrub colors: olive green tops and black pants
