American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg & ED Swing position requiring charge nurse experience, overnight shifts, and certifications including ACLS, PALS, and TNCC.

Acute care hospital setting with a combined Med/Surg and ED Swing unit (22 beds)
-
Patient ratios are 1:4 for acute care, 1:6 for swing beds, and 1:4 in the ED
-
Patient population includes a wide range of diagnoses across both Med/Surg and emergency presentations
-
RNs are required to titrate drips; common titratable drips include standard vasoactive and other routine infusions
-
Respiratory equipment in use includes nebulizers, O2 (nasal cannula and mask), ventilators (ED and transport only), and CPAP for applicable swing bed patients
-
Telemetry is present on the unit; ED nurses are responsible for reading their own strips — no monitor techs

EMR system used is MatrixCare/Matrix

13-week contract with 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a)

Every other weekend requirement

Every other holiday requirement

Float requirement: travelers are first to float, including to the ED; may also work in a charge nurse capacity

Flex/standby time may be required

Active ND or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted

Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and TNCC — pending certifications are not accepted

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

At least 1 year of combined Med/Surg and ED experience required

Charge nurse experience required

A driver's license is required for consideration

Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Nurses will provide care across both the Med/Surg and ED Swing unit, functioning as a single combined unit
-
Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned in addition to standard clinical duties

Unit orientation is provided; orientation is 12 hours

Scrubs of any color are acceptable

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Candidates who have worked permanently or PRN directly at this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible

Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible — candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
