Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Orthopedic unit position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, with weekend-only scheduling and an active IL RN license required.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting — Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 total staffed beds
  • Orthopedic unit with 38 beds
  • Weekend-only schedule: Friday–Sunday or Saturday–Monday (3x12-hour day shifts, 6:45 AM–7:15 PM)
  • Floating to other Med/Surg departments is required for all travelers, including potential float to nearby affiliate hospitals
  • No on-call requirements
  • Charting performed in Cerner (experience preferred)
  • Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license currently in hand is required
  • Current BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • PICC line management and IV start skills required
  • Telemetry experience preferred
  • Cerner EMR experience preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Any current or former permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler
  • Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
  • RTO of up to 5 days is generally accommodated; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
  • Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays falling within the contract period
  • Block scheduling is not available for this position
  • Scrubs may be any solid color
  • Free parking is available on-site with a permit obtained during orientation
