Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated academic medical center in Charleston, SC, requiring scrub and circulate experience and an active SC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a large Main OR with 21 suites covering all surgical specialties, including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
  • Level I Trauma Center, academic teaching facility, and Magnet-designated hospital with 820 staffed beds
  • RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate surgical procedures
  • Nursing team is comprised of approximately 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
  • Up to one weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM) per month required
  • On-call requirement of up to 4 call shifts per month (end of shift through 7:00 AM)
  • Floating within scope to similar units or sister facilities may be required as needed
  • Charting via Epic

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or compact/multi-state RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered
  • Current AHA certifications required: BLS
  • Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
  • Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience strongly preferred
  • Level I trauma center experience required
  • Scrub experience strongly preferred
  • SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
  • 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for standard travel rates; local candidates within 60 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Former permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC facility must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
  • Traveler will be required to work at least one holiday period (Christmas: Dec 24–26 or New Year's: Dec 31–Jan 1)
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs
  • Orientation modules are completed prior to start date
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
  • During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
