Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU (Perianesthesia) travel position at a Level II Trauma Center in Green Bay, WI, requiring CAPA or CPAN certification and a minimum of 2 years of Phase I/Phase II PACU experience.

Details

  • Located at a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, Level III Maternity Center, and Primary Stroke Center in Green Bay, WI
  • Perianesthesia unit includes two PACU areas (Main and East) within the same building, with a combined 66 pre/post rooms and 27 Phase I PACU bays
  • Cares for 60–80 patients per day combined across Main and East PACU
  • Patient population includes both pediatric and adult inpatients, outpatients, and observation patients across a wide range of surgical specialties, including general, plastics, urology, GI, bariatrics, GYN, minor vascular, neurosurgery (spine and craniotomies), robotics, ophthalmology, orthopedics, cardiothoracic (thoracotomies/pericardial windows — no open hearts), ENT, endovascular, fistulas, bronchoscopies, post-cath, and post-IR/Neuro IR
  • Patient ratios: Pre-op 1:3, Phase I 1:2, Phase II 1:3
  • EMR: Epic — experience required
  • Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing
  • Travelers will float regularly between Phase I and Phase II Recovery for both Main and East PACU
  • 8-hour day shifts, 0900–1730, Monday through Friday on a set schedule
  • No weekend rotation, no on-call or callback requirements, and no holiday coverage expectations

Requirements

  • Active WI or Compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • CAPA or CPAN certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of Phase I and Phase II PACU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR required
  • Must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythms and manage cardiac drips
  • Required hard-stop skills: arterial lines, TR bands, chest tubes, CBI
  • Experience recovering post-cath, bronch, and IR patients highly preferred
  • Experience recovering plastics, ENT, pediatric, vascular, neuro/spine, craniotomy, orthopedic, GI, GYN, and ophthalmology patients preferred
  • Must be able to provide discharge instructions (Phase II recovery)
  • At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year required for consideration
  • Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Department support includes a Charge RN, management, CNA/LPN staff (primarily in pre-op and Phase II), 24/7 hospitalist coverage, 24/7 respiratory therapy, anesthesiologists/CRNAs, and bedside/nursing station telemetry
  • Orientation includes a facility-level NEO and 2 eight-hour shifts in the department
  • A daily staffing sheet is provided to indicate whether to report to Main PACU (2nd floor) or East PACU (1st floor)
  • Occasionally may care for an intubated patient or assist with intubation in the PACU setting
  • Candidates with extensive PACU experience may be considered for first-time traveler roles
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
  • Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff in the Aurora BayCare PACU will not be considered
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate — no radius restriction
  • No more than 4 days of RTO will be approved for this assignment
  • Scrubs must be a solid color, professional appearance — no logos, graphics, or designs
  • Free parking is available on-site
