Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PCU RN for a float pool position requiring KS/MO or compact licensure, with night shifts and multi-campus floating responsibilities.

Details

  • Float pool position — will not be assigned a home unit; floats between approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments and other metro campuses as needed
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, with shifts falling on any combination of Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
  • No on-call requirements
  • Block scheduling is not available for this position
  • Patient population includes cardiac, neuro stepdown, sepsis, renal failure, AFIB, GIB, stroke, ETOH, SI, wound care, and COVID cases
  • Required equipment and systems: Virtual Nurses, 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, Omnicell
  • Charge RN assignments may be required as needed

Requirements

  • Active RN license in both Kansas and Missouri, or a compact license, must be in hand prior to consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/Med-Surg/Telemetry specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
  • Required certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Preferred certification: ACLS
  • Required clinical skills: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, cardiac monitoring, pre/post cardiac cath care, and experience with neuro stepdown and MS/tele settings
  • Preferred skills: sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, port access, blood product administration, and central line care/management
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • 2 professional references required: at least one must be supervisor-level or above; the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from someone who has worked with the candidate within the past year
  • Pending licenses are not accepted — all required licenses must be in hand at time of consideration

Additional Information

  • Willingness to float between units, departments, and multiple metro campuses is mandatory — refusal may result in assignment cancellation
  • Charge RN duties may be assigned on an as-needed basis
  • Holiday shift coverage is required as assigned by the unit
  • RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the assignment
  • Travel partners are not accepted for this position

  • Onboarding includes compliance modules to be completed prior to start
