American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Progressive Care Unit position at a 5-time Magnet-recognized, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of recent telemetry experience and active MO (or compact) and KS RN licenses.

24-bed Intermediate Care/PCU unit within a 456-bed tertiary care, Level 1 Trauma, Magnet-recognized teaching hospital

Intermediate medical patients and surgical overflow, including TURP, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic appendectomy, laparoscopic hernia repair, eye surgery, oral surgery, diabetic teaching, and wound care

Fast-paced unit supporting throughput from both the ED and OR

Patient ratio of 1:5; may flex to 1:6 on rare occasions

Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)

8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period (combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)

Charge RN assignments required as needed per unit
-
Floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required

No on-call requirements

Charting via Epic

Navy scrubs required

Active RN license — both Missouri (or compact) and Kansas licenses must be in hand prior to consideration, as floating between facilities may require licensure in both states

Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/telemetry specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days

Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required

Required clinical skills include: cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, Rapid Response Team utilization, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care and management, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), port access, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care and management, peripheral IV insertion, heparin protocols, PCA management, CVA care, oxygen delivery (nasal cannula, face mask, portable tank), isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac

Preferred skills include: insulin drip titration, renal failure management, ortho trauma and total joint replacement care, surgical drain management, tracheostomy management, and eye surgery patient care

2 professional references required — at least one must be supervisor level or above; the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year

RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days for the duration of the assignment
