Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro PCU position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic medical center, with Epic experience and ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications required.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a dedicated Neuro focus within a large acute care teaching hospital
  • Adult patient population with neurological conditions including stroke, neurosurgical recovery, neuro-specific diagnoses, and medical overflow
  • Unit includes 5 dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring
  • Patient ratio of 1:4–5
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12s, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
  • One holiday required per 13-week contract
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Floating to other units within the traveler's clinical skillset is required
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period

Requirements

  • Active Virginia state RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand; pending licensure accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management, including participation in Rapid Response and Code teams
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
  • Experience administering cardiac drips (non-titrated) and general medication administration
  • Competency in respiratory support including nasal cannula, O2 administration, and non-invasive airway management
  • Experience with isolation precautions
  • Driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
  • Two professional references required for consideration

  • Certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center with 24/7 neurointerventional coverage and advanced endovascular procedures
