American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with at least 2 years of OR experience for a night shift position at a Level I academic trauma center in Charleston, SC.

Large academic medical center Main OR with 21 suites covering all surgical specialties
-
Common cases include Ortho (total joints, spine, trauma), Neuro (craniotomy, spine), ENT (flaps), Robotics, Transplants/Procurements, Trauma/Burns, and GU/GYN
-
Nursing team is composed of 75% RNs and 25% CSTs; RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate
-
Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
-
Rotating weekends required; holiday rotation required
-
No on-call requirement

Travelers may be required to float within scope to meet facility needs, including between like units or sister facilities

Charts in Epic

Minimum 2 years of OR scrub experience required
-
Level I trauma center experience required
-
NBSTSA CST certification required — NCCT certification is not accepted

BLS certification required (AHA only)

South Carolina license required if applicable
-
A radiation badge is required for this role

2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Driver's license and SSN required for consideration

Experience with Neuro (spine/craniotomy), ENT (flaps), and Robotics (DaVinci Xi) is highly preferred
-
First-time travelers are accepted for this position

Candidates who have previously worked as permanent staff or PRN at any MUSC location must have been separated from the MUSC system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler

Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) are considered on a case-by-case basis; non-local candidates are prioritized

All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs
-
Facility is a Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital
-
Scrubs are provided by the facility
-
Orientation modules are completed prior to the start date

Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
-
Parking is available via a permit obtained from the parking management office; a one-time $20 registration fee applies for a hang tag granting access to the designated garage
